Kieta van der Meulen

Kieta holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, and has been a lawyer since 2009.

Kieta joined Maurice Blackburn in 2017, after working at other compensation law firms in Victoria and with the trade union movement. She has extensive experience securing compensation for clients with WorkCover and TAC claims for people in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula area.

“I have always wanted to work in an area where I can help people,” says Kieta.

“As an articled clerk, I gained experience working with many TAC clients. Through this, I learned what a privilege it is to be entrusted to navigate clients through the litigation process, during what is an emotional, physical and financially stressful time in their lives.”

Kieta is renowned for her down-to-earth approach and hard work on behalf of clients.

“There are many roadblocks in the way of people seeking compensation, and it’s my job to help my clients understand the timeframes and the legislative schemes along the way.

“I find it very rewarding to achieve an excellent outcome for a client.”

Kieta grew up in the Latrobe Valley and has worked as a lawyer in the region. She and her family were involved in the trade union movement and assisted workers during various industrial campaigns in the power industry and with other community activities to protect local services.

Kieta is an enthusiastic supporter of Melbourne Storm and Carlton Football Club.
