Roisin Lyng

Roisin started at the firm in 2011 and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2014. She is currently working on the Uber Class Action, which was filed on behalf of participants in the taxi, hire-car, limousine and charter vehicle industries who suffered losses when Uber entered the Australian market.

“Class actions provide access to justice for everyday Australians so they can receive the compensation they deserve when they have been mistreated by the companies in which they have placed their trust and money. They also help clean up bad boardroom behaviour and enforce better standards of corporate governance,” says Roisin.

Key cases Roisin has worked on include:

• the Bonsoy Class Action, which settled for $25 million and compensated almost 500 group members who suffered serious health consequences as a result of dangerous levels of iodine in Bonsoy from a seaweed product in the milk.
• the Kilmore East to Kinglake and the Murrindindi Bushfire Class Action settlement administrations. This involved the assessment of approximately 15,000 personal injury and economic loss and property damage claims and the distribution of more than $700 million in compensation to bushfire survivors.
