Rachael McMahon

Senior Associate, Cairns Regional Office Leader
Rachael McMahon

Rachael McMahon is a senior associate and office leader for our Cairns office. She works within our Road Accident team, Work Injury team and Public Place Injury team. She also leads the Innisfail and Mareeba visiting offices.

Rachael grew up in Cairns and completed her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business at James Cook University. She is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Rachael joined Maurice Blackburn in 2013 after previously working for a number of years with another local Cairns law firm, predominantly in the area of personal injuries.

Rachael was drawn to personal injuries work because of a strong drive to help people navigate the laws and fight for their rights while they are going through a difficult time. She enjoys helping people through this process and pushing for the best possible outcomes for them. She has spent many years representing plaintiffs in Far North Queensland, handling motor accident claims, workplace injuries and fatalities. Her work includes complex cases involving injuries sustained over time, as well as claims on behalf of minors.

Rachael has seen many different accidents throughout her work which has made her passionate about advocating for safety in Far North Queensland, both on our roads and in our workplaces. She regularly engages with the media including radio, newspaper and television, to advocate for safety issues and provide clarity around laws for the people in the local community.

"One of my passions is ensuring that people in every corner of Far North Queensland have access to the same rights and opportunities as those in South East Queensland. I strongly believe that all injured people in rural and remote areas deserve access to justice," Rachael says.

She has set up a visiting office on the Tablelands to provide specialised personal injury services to people in the region, and she continues to oversee this office, as well as the Innisfail visiting office. She is proud to bring the experience of a large law firm to Far North Queensland.
