Melissa Meyers

Principal Lawyer, Queensland Medical Negligence State Leader
Melissa Meyers

Melissa Meyers is a Principal Lawyer in our Queensland and Northern Territory offices.

Qualification(s)

BA (Hons), LLB (Hons)

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Melissa worked as a social worker/counsellor. She has also worked for the Adult Guardian in Queensland and has considerable experience in mental health and disability.

After being admitted as a lawyer in 2009, Melissa spent much of her legal career in Central Queensland, before moving to the Northern Territory in 2018 to lead the Maurice Blackburn team in Darwin. She has practised exclusively in personal injuries, in particular catastrophic injuries, death claims and psychological injuries, for over 15 years.

Melissa is committed to ensuring access to legal advice in rural and regional areas and now leads our teams in Darwin, Rockhampton and Mackay. She is part of the North Injuries Leadership Team overseeing our teams across QLD and NT.

"I became a lawyer to help every day, working people and I've spent most of my career doing just that in our regional communities. I love working in the regions and leading our teams to deliver excellent legal services to every corner of Queensland and the Northern Territory", as Melissa puts it.

Melissa is a down-to-earth, straight shooter who aims to deliver excellent legal representation to clients, no matter where they happen to live. She is passionate about extending access to justice across rural, regional and remote parts of Australia, to ensure no client misses out on quality legal representation, simply because they don't live in a capital city.

Melissa is driven by the desire to help clients through the difficult process of a claim and to achieve the best possible outcome, no matter what the circumstances. She is tenacious and prides herself on not backing down from a fight. Melissa is committed to ensuring clients are kept informed and that advice and guidance is provided in plain English, with compassion.

In her spare time Melissa is a keen horse rider and lives on a property with her horses outside Brisbane.
