Lyn Honan

Lyn is a highly motivated, energetic and resilient lawyer with significant negotiation and staff management skills. She is proud to have returned to study later in life and has 17 years’ experience as a lawyer.

“Initially I was practising in small suburban law firms including general law and criminal law,” says Lyn.

“I was particularly interested in costs in those practises and eventually moved to practise in Costs Law full time. I enjoy sorting out and resolving costs problems. And I enjoy doing the deal and finalising costs.”

Lyn joined Maurice Blackburn in 2001, and has given back to the legal industry over many years. She is a mentor through the Monash Law Students Society Professional Mentoring Juris Doctor program as well as internally at Maurice Blackburn, and she has held numerous positions on the LIV.

“As a member of the Costs Lawyers Executive Committee over a number of years, I have been involved in arranging the Annual National Costs Lawyers Conference. I have also been involved in making submissions to the Law Institute for the Costs Lawyers Executive Committee to transition to a Section of the LIV.”

Through her LIV and Maurice Blackburn roles, Lyn has developed an extensive knowledge of the new Uniform Laws that came into force in Victoria and NSW in July 2015.

Lyn is also a keen cyclist and supports Ride to Work Day. On several occasions, she has participated in the Around the Bay in a Day ride, as well as the 900km Mawson Trail in South Australia.
