Layla Cachalia

Layla has strong technical knowledge and practical experience in employment and industrial matters, particularly in unfair dismissals, general protections, bullying complaints and discrimination claims. Layla takes a strategic and practical approach in achieving outcomes for her clients.

Layla has instructed in cases in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court. Prior to joining the firm, Layla worked in private practice, the public sector and the trade union movement.

Achievements:

• Achieved reinstatement for a client in a discrimination matter
• Obtained a six-figure settlement for an employee facing an unlawful termination in the public sector
• Advised senior executives during exit negotiations
• Assisted victims of sexual harassment and discrimination in making complaints to their employers and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
