Katie is a friendly and compassionate lawyer who assists clients who have suffered injuries as a result of misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, delayed treatment, birth trauma and surgical errors, as well as those who have psychological injuries as a result of the loss of a loved one from medical malpractice.
“I am driven by a desire to achieve the best result for my clients, many of whom have lost a loved one or who have suffered unnecessary and life-changing injuries due to no fault of their own,” says Katie.
“I often work with clients during a very difficult time in their lives, and am frequently in awe of the resilience that they show in getting on with their lives, despite their injuries or bereavement. Medical negligence can be a complicated and challenging area of law, and I feel fortunate to be able to assist people to better understand their rights and the circumstances of their injury, and to maximise their compensation entitlements.”
Katie has a keen interest in improving our public healthcare system and helps families through the sometimes confronting Coronial Inquest process. She also volunteers at the Alfred Hospital’s HeLP Patient Legal Clinic, as well as a number of other community organisations.
In addition to speaking English, Katie is proficient in Mandarin and also understands Spanish. She has acted on behalf of a number of refugees and asylum seekers through our social justice practice.
