Julian Brown

Julian Brown is an experienced compensation claims Special Counsel in Maurice Blackburn’s Cairns office and works as part of our Complex Litigation Team. He began working at Maurice Blackburn in 2017, bringing to our Far North Queensland team more than a decade of legal experience.

Julian specialises in claims involving the National Injury Insurance Scheme, Queensland. He has a range of experience in both complex claims and acting for clients who suffer from serious and catastrophic injuries. He has been involved in claims arising from a range of workplace injuries and fatalities, motor vehicle accidents resulting in serious head injury, amputations or spinal injury, to shipping and aircraft accidents and fatalities. 

Julian’s distinguished legal expertise sees him regularly presenting educational seminars for the legal profession, including for the Australian Lawyers Alliance.   

Although based in Cairns, Julian travels to see clients in many locations in Far North Queensland, from Rockhampton and Yeppoon, Bowen, Mackay and Dysart, Ayr and Townsville, Mount Isa, and the Atherton Tablelands. Julian has unique experience in dealing with complex needs of clients who live in remote locations in north Queensland. 

He currently sits as the legal representative on the Far North Queensland Human Research Ethics Committee and is a past President of the Cairns Community Legal Centre and the Far North Queensland Law Association.

As part of our complex litigation team, Julian has decades of experience supporting seriously injured clients and their families.

Outside of work, Julian enjoys cricket and is a member of the Melbourne Football Club.  He is also involved in staged productions with the Cairns Choral Society, and has performed in range of shows including Grease, Oliver and Phantom of the Opera.
